Dogs sell well at Tinwald
More than 150 sheepdogs were offered to a strong buying gallery at Pyne, Gould, Guinness’ twentyeighth annual sheep dog sale at Ashburton last week. Few lots were passed in in spite of the big crowd of the morning dwindling during the afternoon as light rain added to the discomfort of cold overcast conditions. Top price for the day went to Mr Alex Miller of Hororata, who got $1250 for a three-year-old heading dog. The buyer came from Gore. Top price for a bitch went to Mr A. Salkeld of Rangiora for a two-year-old heading bitch. Eleven lots fetched more than $lOOO and few made less than $2OO with buyers and sellers from as far afield as Marlborough and Invercargill.
Auctioneers described the sale as a good one, comparable with last year’s.
