Stepmother to pick up glass

NZPA-Reuter Indiana A woman whose stepdaughter bled to death after cutting herself on a shard of glass has been ordered by a court to spend 100 hours picking up broken glass and other debris at a local park. The sentence was imposed on Trina Rinker, aged 24, after her conviction in Madison County Superior Court on charges of allowing her stepdaughter to play

unattended. The child, aged two, bled to death in 1982 after she cut her jugular vein while playing with a box of broken glass. Judge Dennis Carroll gave Rinker, who has two other young children, a 10year suspended sentence and put her on probation for five years. He also ordered her to serve 100 hours “collecting broken glass and other dangerous objects and debris” at a local park.
