Sister city links to be strengthened
The Christchurch sister- I city links with Kurashiki, 1 Japan, will be strengthened ! next month with the visit of t the Kurashiki Boys and Girls’ Choir. i The 64-member party will spend three days in Christ- < church, giving a recital on 1 August 10 with a combined 1 choir from Christchurch i schools. ( Fifty-three of the party 1 are choir members, ranging in age from 12 to 15, cover- < ing both primary and i secondary pupils. They will 1 spend the first night of their Visit at a hotel and be i Nome-hosted by pupils from i
St Margaret’s College and Branston Intermediate School for the remaining two nights. The choir’s conductor is a noted singer in Japan. It is not the first time the choir has toured outside its home country. It has also visited Kurashiki’s sister cities in the United States (Kansas) and Austria (St Polten). The tour has the support of the Education Department and the Canterbury Education Board. Te Wai Pounamu Girls’ College choir will atlihe August 10 concert.
