Candidate plans campaign run
The Labour Party’s candidate for the Selwyn electorate, Mr Charles Manning, is combining fitness with campaigning. To raise funds for the campaign, the party's electorate committee is planning a sponsored run next month from Rolleston to Halswell through Templeton, Prebbleton, Lincoln and Tai Tapu. Mr Manning, a classics
lecturer and former Christchurch City councillor, is a marathon runner and the committee has sent entry forms-to various branches of the party and other committees seeking support. An entry form being sent out says that Mr Manning can be supported by running with him. by sponsoring him for a specified sum per mile, by sponsoring some other runners and by ap-
pearing in support of the party and the candidate at Siubs en route and at the alswell pub at the conclusion."
