Wee Donna Dandy fancied

The talented Southland bitch, wee Donna Dandy, should improve on her impressive course record when she lines up in the first heat of the New Zealand Breeders’ Stakes at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s on-course totalisator meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park this evening.

Her present form is hard to fault, and her Ladies’ Bracelet win three weeks ago was an outstanding performance. Wee Donna Dandy’s only appearance since then resulted in an effortless heat win on this track last week in a smart 34.01 s (560 m From her draw this evening (No. 3), Wee Donna Dandy should receive the run of the race.

Linwood Lady was the slowest heat winner (34.455). However, it was her first run back from an injury which forced her to miss last month’s Ladies’ Bracelet. She should be much fitter now, and could be dangerous from the No. 2 draw. Chota has shown ability at times, but has yet to beat a field of this quality, and a better prospect could be Keytoe Liz. Underrated in many quarters, Keytoe Liz has always been capable, but recently had to cope with bad draws. This evening is no exception, but her fast finishing burst to beat Supreme Domino in last week’s heat was full of merit, and she could well pay a dividend here. The scratching of the prepost favourite, Poetryman, has left the second heat of the New Zealand Breeders’

more open. With Supreme Domino, Spanish Bijou and Tam Audain all in top form, it should be an even-betting race. Bark Man Bark should add to the form puzzle from his No. 1 draw, while a win by any of the others would come as a surprise.
