Harbor Flo one of stars of Riccarton training

By

J. J. BOYLE

Harbor Flo, the “bridesmaid” of the Southern Wrightson Filly Series, is thriving in her preparation for another clash with Hint in the Inglewood Stakes at Rangiora next week. She came up with one of the best gallops of the training at Riccarton yesterday, sustaining a strong gallop to the end of 1400 m on a firm No. 1 grass. Harbor Flo was paired with her stablemate, Amy Annie, another Inglewood Stakes entrant, but her

stronger finish carried her clear by a length at the end. Harbor Flo recorded 47.6 for her last 800 m, and 35.4 s for the final 600 m.

The work on the plough was distinguished by Charles Beaufort’s effort to run 1400 m in lmin 28s, the final 600 m in 37.65. Dave Kerr has entered both Charles Beaufort and Clansman for the Rangiora Handicap at the North Canterbury meeting, but might take advantage of a 1600 m at race trials later next week as Clansman’s buildup for Easter racing at

Riccarton. Clansman yesterday finished strong work on the plough by running 600 m in 41s. Gaffa was given repetition sprints on the plough, with Donizetti as a companion.
