Planetary system forming
NZPA-AFP New York A new planetary system similar to our solar system seems to be forming in the Taurus constellation 500 light years from Earth, a team of American astronomers has said. The system is coming into existence around a star called HL Tau, which formed about 100,000 years ago, a recent event on the cosmic scale. HL Tau has about the same mass as the Sun and is surrounded by a discshaped cloud composed of solid particles. An accepted theory in astronomy is that the planets of Earth’s solar system condensed out of such particles, which once surrounded the Sun.
