Cost of hospital equipment
Christchurch public hospitals spend almost $500,000 each year on disposable equipment. A list of the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s costs was presented to the board’s finance committee yesterday. Items ranged from disposable bedpans ($46,600) to examination couch covers ($13,100) and serviettes ($24,200). Heading the list were disposable towels, which cost the board $210,500. Board staff are taking a closer look at the cost of disposables to make costcomparisons.
