Dunedin jeans firm to be wound up

PA Dunedin Debts totalling almost a quarter of a million dollars are outstanding to creditors of the Starkers Jeans Company, Ltd, of Dunedin, which is to be wound up by order of the High Court. Mr Justice Roper yesterday made an order that the company be wound up after a petition was presented by Mr R. P. Bates for the Inland Revenue Department, which is owed $3636.71. Also seeking the winding up of the company were the Christchurch clothing manufacturers Harris and Graham, Ltd, who are owed $15,603. They were represented by Mr W. Goldsmith. Formula Fashions, of Taupo, are owed $21,362, Ebony Marketing, Ltd, of Parnell are owed $10,382.10, and Depeche Manufacturing, Ltd. of Auckland are owed $10,840.40. The other two New Zealand creditors supporting Harris and Graham are the French Pant Company of Auckland ($8926.30) and Airedale Enterprises, Ltd, of Auckland ($1490.03). However, the largest debt, one of $130,401.48, is owed to a London company, Balfour Williamson and Company, Ltd (Mr H. J. Ross).
