Betting up
Betting rose by $151,876 on the Canterbury Jockey Club's twoday summer meeting this year. On-course betting dropped from $471,336 to $437,214, but offcourse bets, at $1,171,207, were up $185,998 on last year.
Any enthusiasm felt for overall increases might have been tempered by the fact that the club staged 10-race programmes this year, nine-race programmes last year.
