Less EEC steel
NZPA-Reuter Luxemburg European Economic Community steel production in 1982 totalled 111.4 M tonnes. 11.6 per cent less than in 1981, according to the Community’s statistics organisation, Eurostat. Output fell in all member States except the Irish Republic, whose steel industry is small. Cuts ranged from 20.4 per cent for the Netherlands (1982 production 4.4 M tonnes) to 3.1 per cent for Italy (24M tonnes). West German production fell 13.8 per cent to 35.9 M tonnes. French 13.3 per cent to 18.4 M tonnes, and British 10.2 per cent to 13.8 M tonnes.
