Shipping news Russians making crew changes
Half the ships berthed at Lyttelton on Monday will be Russian. Three Russian fishing vessels are coming into port to meet the passenger ship Nikolayevsk, due to arrive from Russia on Monday carrying 250 replacement crew. . The fishing vessels-due are the Mys Osipova,’ the Kushka,, and the Mys Silina, all round the 2300-ton range. Russian crew changes used to be made at Wellington, but Lyttelton now seems to be preferred because it is closer, to the fishing grounds. ’ “We can expect to see more crew changes made here in the future,” said a spokesman for Scales, the company acting as agent for the Russians.
