Highway closed
State highway 6 from Franz Josef to south of Fox Glacier was closed last evening after a creek washed away the abutments of a partly built bridge. Heavy rain caused the wash-out, at Docherty Creek, south of Franz Josef. There was only half a lane on the approach to the bridge, said a Ministry of Works spokesman last evening. The road would be reopened to traffic by 8.30 a.m. today, he said.
