Choice of movies
Sir,—l wish to voice my opinion concerning movies in Christchurch City at Show week-end. I have an 11-year-old son. He had three friends around and they-decided to go to the movies. They had to go to town as they had to use a bus as it is rather difficult to get to the suburban theatres. Many parents would be worried about their children catching more than one bus. The choice, therefore, had to be in the city. We looked at the paper and the choices went: Three RlB, three Rl6, one Rl3, one G.A. containing violence and coarse language, and “West Side Story” and Midcity at 10.30. I would like to point out that during the school holidays our children have many movies to choose from and surely our theatres could offer a Saturday afternoon and 5 p.m. choice for children and families—Yours, etc., SYLVIA BAKEN.
