Adopt-a-rat
The Los Angeles adopt-a-rat programme is in trouble. One of the orphans bit a local reporter, and interest in adopting them has vanished. The programme started when officials seized 64 pet rats from a man’s apartment after neighbours complained. Forty-four were placed in good homes, but the rest will have to face institutional life at the Wildlife Way Station. — Washington.
