“Inspiring”
Message from the Mayor of Christchurch, Sir Hamish Hay The opening of Stage One of the new T.. and G. Triangle Centre -Development is a significant occasion for Christchurch and I warmly congratulate the Board of the T. and G. Mutual Life Society on their expression of confidence in the future of the city centre of Christchurch. The new building, with its overhead walkways in Colombo, Cashel and High Streets, is an exciting addition to the central business district and one of the first new developments com-
pleted since the opening of the City Mall and could well inspire other new buildings in the area. It is most important that the city centre be kept interesting and attractive to shoppers and visitors or else rateable values will fall which would not be in the interests of residential ratepayers. I therefore applaud the substantial capital investment which has been made by the T. and G. Society in this new building and hope that it will be an outstanding success and that all the tenants in the Triangle Centre will prosper.
