WAITAKI CATCHMENT COMMISSION AND REGIONAL WATER BOARD WATER RESOURCES TECHNICAL OFFICER THE Waitaki Catchment Commission and Regional Water Board administers water management and provides erosion control services in the 11.957 sq. km Waitaki catchment. The macro-hydrology of the catchment is well documented and analysed, but developing pressure on the minor components of.-the resource requires the "further analysis of existing data and the establishment of a data network to facilitate both long-term planning and day-to-day management of water use. Initially the appointee to the position of Water Resources Technical Officer would be engaged in a review of existing data, with an eventual shift, in work emphasis to the establishment of a data collection system integrated with the existing system serviced by Ministry of Works and Development. Data storage and processing equipment will be available, and both computer and field hydrological experience is sought. Applicants should hold NZCE-NZCS or equivalent, but experience is paramount. The ability to organise and direct work in conjunction with other units of the agency will be important. WATER QUALITY TECHNICIAN: CONTRACT . The Waitaki Regional Water Board requires the services of a contract Water Quality Technician for a minimum of six months from early December 1982. Duties will include Hie sampling and analysis of natural and waste waters as part of the Board’s water resources investigations programmes. Responsibilities will include the dav to day maintenance of existing mobile laboratory equipment and facilities at Lake Tekapo. Applicants should hold a NZCS with chemistry and biology options.
