Ten years after he first conducted the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra European conductor Vanco Cavdarski will again conduct the orchestra for its subscription concert later this month,, He .has conducted the orchestra several times and is a firm favourite with Christchurch audiences • and ■musicians. Now chief conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television in Belgrade, Vanco Cavdarski has spent the last 10 years in Australasia. Also appearing at the subscription concert, which will feature the works of Brahms and Tchaikovsky, is internationally famous violinist
Carl Pini. Now resident in Christchurch and a senior lecturer at the University of Canterbury, Carl Pini will play the Brahms “Violin Concerto.” Preceding this piece will be the “Academic . Festival Overture,” also by Brahms. The second half of the programme will be devoted to Tchaikovsky's “Symphony No. ’4.” Bookings for the concert, the second subscription concert given by the orchestra, have opened. The orchestra has more than 960 subscribers for the 1982-83 series which means almost all.,the gallery seats have been sold. The concert is on Saturday evening, November 20.
