Prince Philip’s feat
NZPA-Reuter Windsor Britain’s Prince Philip yesterday won the team driving event at the Royal Windsor Horse Show to virtually ensure a place in the national team for the world championship in the Netherlands in August. It was his first victory in nine attempts and the husband of Queen Elizabeth
made it a family affair. He drove a team of the Queen’s bays and she presented him with the trophy. “I really do it for fun,” said Prince Philip afterwards, “but if I am chosen for the British team I would have to go or my grooms would murder me.” Prince Philip was a member of the British team which won the 1980 world championship.
