Veteran athletics end in Suva

The final events in the 1982 Oceania veteran athletic championships were staged in the magnificent setting of the Pacific Harbour international golf course in Suva, Fiji, on Sunday. Competition in the road races began at 6 a.m. from the national stadium and Canterbury’s lan Brownie won the M5O age-group with a time of 58mln 365. In the cross-country events the over-all winner was Roger Robinson, of New Zealand, with a time of 37min 14s. Of the other Canterbury athletes competing, Ramon McLean won the M 45 grade with a time ■ of 41min with Berry Chant third in 42min 525. Brownie was placed third in the M5O grade. The 1984 Oceania championships have been scheduled for Sydney with the meeting to be held at Easter.
