Second N.Z. 'water baby’ born in bath
PA Whangarei New Zealand's second “water baby" was born in a borrowed bathtub in the lounge of a Whangarei home on Saturday evening. The mother. Ms Suzie Green, aged 28, of Whangarei, gave birth assisted by an ; Auckland midwife, Miss
Isabel Smith. Ms Green's family doctor attended the birth as an observer. The baby, named Cinnamon. weighed 3.23 kg. Ms Green, who has two other children aged five and seven, said the birth was far easier than her previous two. “Both my other births took about 30 hours,” she said. “Also, this was a very intense birth — it only took 2 *-2 hours.” She believed the birth was easier because of the water, which relaxed and supported
“The warmth was soothing and the movements were made much easier because of the support,” she said. Ms Green said she allowed Cinnamon to float slowly to the surface. “I would have liked to have kept her under longer but I still feel the water allowed a more gentle transition from the womb.” New Zealand’s first, "water baby.” Zhann, was born at the Tutukaka. .Rainbow Dolphin Centre bn March 17.
