Qainella for Ivil stable

By J. J. BOYLE Reveillia had to toil in the shade of the brilliant Beaufort Lass in two starts at the New Zealand Cup meeting in November, and was runnerup in both the Welcome Stakes and the Pioneer Handicap. But he did not have any youngsters as sharp as Beaufort Lass in opposition in the Autumn Nursery at Riccar-. ton yesterday and he made a top weight’s triumph of the race at fairly cramped odds. In the hands of Jim Cassidy, the Never Till Dawn colt won by a length and a half from Amcan, a second runner for the Levin stable of Ansley and Ivil. . Short of a dead-heat,- the stable could not have had a

better result. But Amcan was not a certain starter for yesterday's race after showing signs of shin soreness last Thursday. He galloped better on a rain-deadened track on Saturday morning and Garth Ivil was encouraged by that to run the Amalgam colt yesterday. Amcan finished doggedly and beat the weakening Fameson comfortably for second, but he never really got to grips with his stablemate.

Reveillia is a half-brother to Kindled and King’s Royal. King's Royal (by Double Speed) won two races including the Churchill Stakes for the Ivil stable at the New Zealand Cup meeting.
