Special correspondent Invercargill Off An’ On. a gallant third behind Auditor}’ and Admiral Blair in the Cup on the first day. should be rewarded for his’ honesty in the Mooney's Wool and Skin Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double on the third day of the Riverton Racing Clubs meeting today. The Bellborough veteran raced with zest in the Cup and; in the absence of his two. conquerors in that feature, he appeals as the logical winner. Mary Wake’s fifth in the Riverton Cup was a fair run and she would need to reveal little improvement to rate a serious winning chance, especially in the slightly weaker field and in the absence of two of those who headed her off in the cup. Douglas Shaw. u T ho won the Fireside Cup on her in the spring, renews his association with the mare today.' Wyella’s fourth in the Cup on the 'first day was. a big run and one which makes her a top chapce. today, especially with the services of Kevin Morton, who travelled south overnight to ride her. She hit a soft patch on the first day, but came again for a creditable fourth. Mararoa's plucky win in the Champion Hack yesterday entitles him to some
■respect, even in this stronger field, and Albatross and Tiara are a couple of capable mares on their day but would have to show some improvement on their lacklustre Cup showings on the first day. Eagless and Lady Cop, second and . -- third, respectively, behind Valraine in the corresponding race on the first day when only half a head and half a length separated the trio, stage a return bout in the second leg. the Radio Southland' Handicap. There promises to be very little between them. The track will again be soft. SELECTIONS 12J5: Holy Water, Super Prince. Jophill. 2.35: Wren's Flight.
