Vandals thwarted

PA Auckland Labour Party efforts to thwart billboard vandals in East Coast Bays appear to have succeeded.

’ Annoyed Labour stalwarts decided to apply a little science to the uprights of three billboards in the southern part of the electorate where the vandals have been most active. They coated the uprights with grease and potassium permanganate (Condy’s crystals). , According to the Labour candidate, Mr Neville Creighton,- anyone who grasped the uprights would find his hands stained brown for two or three weeks. He said the chemical combination seemed to have done the job — the billboards had remained erect.
