Computer link for library

PA Wellington The National Library intends to use the computer services of Facom, N.Z., Ltd, to run the introductory phase of its on-line library system. The system, which will be known as the New Zealand Bibliographic Network, is based on a set of programmes developed by the Washington library network. The cost of the introductory phase will be $782,000. The Facom computer will

be big enough to accommodate the first two years of the enterprise. In the introductory period, from early 1982, a large bibliographic data base comprising more than two million bibliographic records will be obtained from the National Library of Australia. The 26 computer terminals provided by Facom will be installed gradually through the Wellington sections of the National Library.
