Youth’s identity a mystery
PA Whangarei Mystery still surrounds the identity of the youth killed when he was struck by a train in a Whangarei suburb on Monday night. The police yesterday could only describe him as a Maori aged between 15 and 17. Earlier they considered him in a slightly older age-group. The youth’s mutilated body was spotted by the driver of a northbound train at 5.15 a.m. yesterday. He had apparently been struck by the night train on a. bend just north of the Kamo Road level-crossing. One factor baffling the police is that no-one fitting
the youth's description has been reported missing. Checks have been made with National Police Headquarters, with welfare homes, and other avenues without success.
