Mr George Courtney, who refereed the 1980 F. A. Cup Final, will control New Zealand’s return World Cup qualifying match against Australia in Sydney on May 16. F.1.F.A., the world body of soccer, appointed Mr Courtney for the match. Asian
officials have been given the other group matches, which indicates that F.I.F.A. regards the Australia-New Zealand match as the key one in the group. A top Italian refereee, Mr Georgio Menegali, refereed the opening group match between the two countries at Auckland last Saturday.
