New role for Conley?
Mr Terry Conley, Christchurch Mogal United’s soccer coach, has been approached to take a team in next summer’s proposed northern region super-league. Mr Conley confirmed yesterday that he had been contacted' to become involved in the league, but said he could not comment further on whether he had given a decision to the league’s organisers. If the league does go ahead,' there is no.guarantee
a Christchurch team will be included. The league will comprise either eight or 10 teams, huge sponsorship and overseas players. A strong emphasis will be placed on personalities, on both the playing and coaching fronts, and the coaches must also have a proven track record. The prospects of. a Christchurch team being included, certainly for the. first year, are slim, but that would not prevent individual players, or coaches from the South
Island from taking part, as there would be no clash with the Rothmans League.
