It is located at Launceston. Tasman'a. As the national maritime college it is the only one of its kind in Australia, and provides maritime education and professional training for the shipping, fishing, off-shore, and port industries. The programs extend over the range of tertiary-level courses to degree and postgraduate studies: and there is a substantial involvement in short continuing education courses 'or the maritime and maritime-related industries. The first fulltime students enrolled last year. By 1984. wnen the building program will be completed, there will be some 800 full-time students on basic (award; courses and over 1000 on short Inon-award) courses.
