Blue Defence amiss
PA New Plymouth The well-performed stayer, Blue Defence, broke down badly during training at Hawera yesterday and he is likely to be sidelined for at least a year. Blue Defence, a five-year-old by came Defence from Blue Client, broke both sesamoid bones in his near foreleg while continuing his preparation for the Gloaming Stakes at Trentham on Saturday. Blue Defence, on . eterinary advice, will travel to Massey University soon to have screws inserted in the injured leg. The winner of ten races and almost 540.000 in the colours of Wai’ara farmer, Mr J. Marsh, Blue Defence has been trained throughout his career by P. J. Moseley at Hawera.
