Labour plan
NZPA London The British Labour Party's ruling national executive has approved a blueprint outlining the way the party would run the economy. The nine-page document, described as “Labour’s plan for expansion — the alternative economic strategy,” attacked the Government’s “discredited” monetarist experiment.
It also accused the Prime Minister (Mrs Margaret Thatcher) of having brought the economy “almost to its knees.”
The document, which had been rewritten several times, is only an interim exposition of Labour's plans to revive Britain.
The plan as it stands underlines that Labour’s programme could not be carried out unless Britain withdraws from the Common Market.
The document says: “Our ) first task must be to get the. economy moving again. “We must reverse the slide into slump brought about bw monetarism: we must inject substantial new spending! power into the economy and the best way to do this is through increased , public! spending.” <4
