Strong English netball team
PA Wellington England has named an exceptionally strong netball team for a 12-match tour of New Zealand, which starts in Rotorua on May 20. Nine of the 12 players announced yesterday were in the English side that was fourth at the last world championships in Trinidad and Tobago in 1979. And a tenth, Carol Bretherton, toured the West Indies in 1978. The new full internationals are Debbie Baird, who has been in the England under-21 team for four years, and the England under-21 captain, Sally Williams.
The tourists will be led by Jillean Hipsey, whose club,
New Campbell, is this years English champion.

Southern squad at Invercargill: June 6, FIRST TEST at Dunedin; June 10, SECOND TEST at Wellington; June 13, THIRL TEST at Hamilton.
