Nurses’ training
Nurses from Christchurch’s new Advanced Medical Care unit will be put through their paces in a civil ■ defence exercise at South Hagley Park on May 16. The 15 registered nurses have over the last few weeks been trained by Army Medical Corps tutors from Burnham to use emergency medical units after a disaster. The units would be set up to cater for disaster victims who cotild not be treated in overcrowded or damaged hospitals. The nurses have been trained to work as paramedics, ; and could be expected to' perform tasksnormally done by doctors.
