PA Auckland Alcan New Zealand Ltd's turnover for the first quarter of the current year was steady and the company’s profits marginally ahead, the chairman, Mr J.. B. Clarkson, told shareholders on Friday. „f But bookings continued to be below budget and the forward order position on both the company’s sheet and foil plants was causing some concern. There had been some slight uplift in building activ-
ity due to home renovations and this was having a beneficial effect on the extrusions department, Mr Clarkson said. Associate company Gerrard Roofing. Systems was extremely busy and making a significant contribution to over-all profits, he said. Hopefully there would'be an upturn in industrial activity as the year proceeded and this would improve the company’s operating position.
