Call to halt protest photographs
PA . Wellington The New Zealand University Students’ Association has called on the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon).and the Minister of Police (Mr Couch) to stop the police photographing demonstrators. The call was prompted bypolicemen allegedly taking .photographs of demonstrators at an "education fightback” march at Wellington earlier this month. “The N.Z.U.S.A. condemns the police and S.I.S. practice of taking photographs of demonstrators and of protesters, seeing such acts as a violation of democratic rights and a form of harassment of the protesters,” said the N.Z.U.S.A. president, Mr Deryck Shaw.
