Lights in fog
Sir,—Yesterday, (Thursday April 23), I attempted to shepherd children safely across a busy street in the early morning fog and I am sure there were many . other teachers similarly engaged throughout Christchurch. May I please, through your columns, make a plea to motorists? Parking lights are a totally inefficient and quite inadequate , means of illumination in thick fog. Some cars were as close as eight metres away before they became visible and those with no lights on at all, and there were many, were even closer. To those motorists who had dipped headlights showing I say, “Thank'you”.—Yours, etc., VIRGINIA FFITCH. • April 24, .1981.
