Dutch windmills beckon Tricia

Wheels are really turning now for a young Christchurch schoolteacher, Miss Tricia van Schaijik, who has been named “Miss Windmill, 1981.” Miss Schaijik, aged 20, has always wanted to get to the Netherlands for a visit, at least. Part of her prize is : return fare to Amsterdam, plus a new wardrobe. For Miss van Schaijik the

higtitfght of her trip will be on July 4, when as “Miss Windmill, 1981,” she will start the windmills turning for the season at the tourist resort of Kinderdijk. "1 am really thrilled about the whole thing. I really never expected to get this far,” said Miss van Schaijik, who teaches at the Redwood Primary School.

The annual "Miss Wind--mill” contest is run by the Combined Netlierland Society, the Link Society and the Dutch publication, “Windmill Post.” It is judged mainly on personality and general knowledge of New Zealand and the Netherlands. Miss van Schaijik is only one of several New Zealandborn entrants who have won the title.
