Cycling with babies
Sir,—The other, day I saw something that really worried me: a woman carrying a baby on her back was happily cycling along. I believe in bicycles, .and ,1 believe even more in those babycarriers. What I am against is combining the two. Bikes are not exactly the safest means of transport in traffic; add to that a young child on the rider’s back and
what do you get? A deathtrap. I contacted the police; but they can do nothing. They agreed with me that it was extremely dangerous, especially for the baby.— Yours; etc., TINA VAN DER VELDEN, January 30, 1981.
