Access for disabled

Sir, — Having been in the Botanic Gardens last Saturday I endorse all you said in your editorial “Arts Festival success” about “Fantasticon,” which was a surprise and a joy. More surprising and less joyful was the discovery that for my disabled companion’s wheelchair there was no easy access to the glasshouse and none at all to the Art Gallery. To the lay observer it looks a Simple matter to provide a ramp at the entrance to the glasshouse: more of an undertaking in the case of the Art Gallery, but not impossible surely in a compassionate society. — Yours, etc. B. M. ALLARDYCE. March 27, 1980.
