I Holmdale busy on Chathams run
. i The days when the Union , Steam Ship Company’s Holmdale ..would spend as much as three ..iveeks at Lyttelton between trips to the Chatham Islands may be over. For the last two months the Holmdale has been going back ; and forth to the Chathams at an accelerated pace and has even ■included a trip to Wellington ■and Campbell Island in her itinerary. She will be busy next month too. She arrived back from the .Chathams, this week and is scheduled to sail again early next week, including a stop at Pitt Island in addition to her regular call at Waitangi. • , - _ ■ Weather and sea conditions permitting the Holmdale usually takes about 42 hours to coyer the 462 miles between Lyttelton and Waitangi , , ’ , ■; She is expected to be back at Lyttelton on April 8, will sail for the Chathams again on April IS, will leave the Chathams on April 24, and will arrive in Lyttelton on April 26. . ,; After that she may squeeze in j another vdvage or two before going into the graving dock for her annual survey. ■*: . ’ i One reason the Holmdale has i.'ten kept on the move has been ;She wharf building and. airport •{construction going on in tn# ■Chathams which calls for .* regular supply of equipment ana materials. : .
