Economist to visit
PA ■ Wellington A former senior United States Treasury Departmentofficial will visit New Zealand next week with good and bad economic news for 1980. * ... Mr Lisle Widman, a former Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Monetary Affairs at the United States Treasury (he retired last month), has said he feels the world payments pattern this year will show
i “severe imbalances,” said the United States Embassy. However, Mr Widman feels these will be manageable, “providing countries take prompt and effective action to deal with them.” Mr Widman will visit Wellington on March 31 and April 1 for talks with Government departments, including the Treasury and the Reserve Bank, and to speak at the United States Embassy on the problems of the world economy.
