Strong market rally
Prices of both mining and industrial issues showed signs of levelling out on Australian stock exchanges yesterday after the recent heavy set-backs. Mining heavyweights, which have been among the hardest hit in the selling spree, led the recoveries, in active trading. i The Sydney all-ordinaries index closed 9.71 points higher, at 868.88. Local investors came to the rescue as the market bought its way out of a severe downswing. _ Bargainhunters swooped in to push up prices on both the mining and industrial sectors, but it was the Rundle Oil shale partners who lit up the boards. Central Pacific jumped 850 c in late trading to finish the day at $50.50 and its major partner. Southern Pa-> cific. rose 450 c on the day ito 820 in a surge of buying | by Melbourne investors.
