DC10 crash claims: no Law Soc. connection
PA Wellington The New Zealand Law Society is not connected with efforts to co-ordinate claims on Air New Zealand arising from the DCIO crash in the Antarctic, according to Mr T. P. Broad, an assistant secretary. It. was not correct that an Auckland lawyer Mr K. L. Peterson, had been appointed by the society to head a committee of lawyers co-or-dinating the bulk of New Zealand claims, he said yesterday. . “The Law Society is acting only as an information gatherer,”. Mr Broad said. “We suggested that everybody concerned should register with us so that interested parties would know who was who.
“There' is no question of the society’s being involved to any degree. We are most concerned that we should not be seen as taking any part in the matter.”
Mr Broad said that Mr Peterson was on a committee organised privately by lawyers to co-ordinate claims.
