tne sale was fully justified considering the extremely low presence of the disease and the present high demand for cattle. Mr Mitchell said that ah though, “movement control,’' had been imposed on the Stdtioh, ’this would not affect most of 'the buyers of the annual draft of steers. All the steers would be tested at Molesworth before .the sale and if any. reacted to disease, they, would be slaughtered immediately. . ' Cattle -bought by farmers who did not have. breeding stock would .not have to be tested before slaughter, Although the Blenheim office of the Ministry of Agriculture would have to be informed of any proposed movement from the property. Post-sale testing would be carried out in the case of those with breeding stock. Mr Mitchell said that all stock firms and the department’s offices at Christchurch, Blenheim, and Dunedin would have a paper available early next, week setting out the requirements for the information of prospective
