General forecast: A complex depression to the south-east of New Zealand continues to move away and as it does so the southwesterly airstream over the country is decreasing slowly. Scattered showers are expected over the north of the North Island and in western districts, though with increasing fine intervals. Scattered showers are also expected in the south of the South Island with a few
along the east' coast and in Wellington and south Wairarapa as the flow tends more southerly. It will be mainly fair in the west of the South Island and also in Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, and north Wairarapa. District forecasts:
Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru: Clearing. Nelson, Blenheim: Mainly fine.
Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika: Showers clearing.
