Golden Shears to start today

Masterton The Golden Shears and world shearing championships will start at Masterton today/ With the start of the junior shearing competitions today, months of preparation will come to fruition. Already finalists have qualified for the Caltex national shearing competition. They are, in order of qualification, Brian Quinn (Alexandra), Don Morrison (Oamaru), Rob Michie (Ngaruawahia), Roger Cox (Eltham), Samson te Whata (Kaikohe), and Martin Ngataki (Mercer). Quinn, as top qualifier in the Caltex national competition, has earned himself a place in the New* Zealand team to shear in the world shearing championships.
