Electricity charges
Sir, — I wish through your columns to add my full support to W. H. Daly’s letter (February 26). This handful of determined people who have refused to pay the last quarter of their power bills have my 100 per cent support. We have seen the price of power “rocket” without any regard for the consumer. Why does the price per unit of electricity to the private consumer have to be so high, when we have such an abundant supply? Perhaps Mr Bill Birch could answer that truthfully to the electorate. I think our Mayor needs to get a few things straight in regards to this power protest group. His job, as I understand it, is to look after the interests of all the people of Christchurch, not just those who agree with him. — Yours, etc., S. D. BROWN, Jun. February 26, 1980.
