Treasurer fancied at Hutt Park tonight

Special correspondent • Wellington A high-class field of three-year-olds has accepted for the Lion Capital Classic at Hutt Park tonight, and it looks possible that South Island geldings will fill the first three places.

Treasurer, from Jack Smolesnki’s stable, Rocking Berry, trained by Derek Jones, and Alistair Kersiake’s Game Adios look the pick of the southern contingent while Remarkable stands out as first choice of the northern brigade. Treasurer has not raced since the Nelson-Marlbor-pugh circuit. His form then was first class, especially his last-start win over 2400 m in a tick over 3:12. Rocking Berry was a gallant second to Armalight over a mobile mile at Addington last Saturday. He has come from the deep south with a big reputation and from a handy draw on the front line will take pegging back if allowed the lead.

Game Adios disappointed at Addington at his last start. His previous form was sound. A good second to Stopwatch at Wanganui was his last show of form. The New Zealand Derby winner faces a stern test from 20m on the Hutt Park track but should be equal to the task.

Remarkable returned a brilliant performance to beat a good field on cup night at Auckland. He was inside the New- Zealand record for a mobile 2200 m and won easing down by four and a half lengths. The time though Will not be recognised as there was a malfunction. in the timing equipment and the time was taken manually.

The first leg of the double, the Evans Bay Handicap, has drawn a field of equally balanced class three pacers. Silvaplana, most impressive in winning a double at the recent Manawatu meeting, looks a strong chance. Karleda Maid, an unlucky runner on both nights at Manawatu, will only have to begin well to make Silvaplana work hard for victory. Rueben James which has won two and been placed in another 11 of his 18 starts this season, looks to. be' another top prospect. The Tai Tapu studmaster, Bill Denton who does riot

travel north very often, looks to have the winner of the P.M.E. Datsun Pace, the second leg of . the double in Mac The Knife. Mac The Knife has not been further back than fifth in his last four starts, and among them was a win at Nelson. RACE 5 T.A.B. TREBLE T.A.B.
