Mr N. W. Drain, a former i landscape consultant and con- I tractor who has worked for • the Christchurch City Coun- i cil since 1967, was last evening appointed the council’s ; new Director of Parks and Recreation. < He will succeed Mr H. cants interviewed on a short list, Mr Drain started his working life as an apprentice in the department. He will start his new post at an annual salary of $18,742. From 1954 to 1967, he was self-employed in private practice, then returned to the council as landscape architect. He later became Assistant Director of Reserves, in charge of parks.
