Top teams win
Hanimex United and Trans Tours United each won their seventh Rothmans Soccer League match this season yesterday, but remain eight points behind Mount Wellington, which walloped Blockhouse Bay, 5-2. Hanimex had a narrow 1-0 win over the struggling Manawatu United, while United had a good 2-1 win over Manurewa.
After trailing Blockhouse, 2-1, in the first half, the Mount turned on the pressure to score another four goals. Dunedin City moved into fifth place when it picked up a point against Eastern Suburbs in Dunedin.
